Dying vet’s ‘fuck you’ letter to George Bush & Dick Cheney needs to be read by every American

Imagine that you’re Bush or Cheney and you’re reading this…

OUR COMMON GROUND Omnibus‘s insight:

I would not be writing this letter if I had been wounded fighting in Afghanistan against those forces that carried out the attacks of 9/11. Had I been wounded there I would still be miserable because of my physical deterioration and imminent death, but I would at least have the comfort of knowing that my injuries were a consequence of my own decision to defend the country I love. I would not have to lie in my bed, my body filled with painkillers, my life ebbing away, and deal with the fact that hundreds of thousands of human beings, including children, including myself, were sacrificed by you for little more than the greed of oil companies, for your alliance with the oil sheiks in Saudi Arabia, and your insane visions of empire.

  1. I understand where this guy is coming from, but dying or not, he has no fucking right to claim to be the voice of the almost 4,500 dead in the war on terror, he has no right to claim to be the voice of the mothers, fathers, spouses, children or friends of the fallen. He can only speak for himself. I pity him. I feel for his sacrifice. I can almost applaud his audacity. Except that it is a final act of cowardice. I am dying, so let me say “fuck you”. He deserves the best care. He deserves the best America has to give him. He even deserves the right to rant and curse the government up and down. He volunteered to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic. He volunteered to Obey the orders of the Officers appointed over him. His decisions led him to his present lot in life. How about he take a little bit of personal responsibility?!?! It’s so easy to say fuck you (no matter how eloquently) to everyone. It’s so easy to blame everyone else. Life isn’t fair. But when he starts claiming to be my voice or anyone I love’s voice for anything, all I can say to him is this, “Respectfully to you from a current veteran…FUCK YOU.”
