For more than four decades, OUR COMMON GROUND has been a Black-centered space for serious conversation, critical thought, memory, and community—a place where we speak not only about what is happening to us, but with one another about who we are, what confronts us, what we believe, what we must remember, and what we are prepared to build.
We are living through a moment that demands more than observation. It requires us to question, listen, challenge, remember, organize, and BEAR WITNESS. The forces reshaping our politics, our institutions, our history, and our understanding of ourselves make independent Black conversation not simply important, but necessary.
OUR COMMON GROUND is returning to that work. The microphone may be different, but the purpose remains: bringing Black voices, experience, scholarship, memory, and imagination into conversation with one another—and creating a space where disagreement can coexist with dignity, truth can demand accountability, and conversation can lead us toward action.
There is work to do. There is history to preserve. There is truth to tell. And there is a future we still have a responsibility to shape.
The conversation continues.
