Kwanzaa is grounded and grew as an act of freedom, an instrument of freedom, a celebration of freedom, and a practice of freedom. It is an act of self-determination and self-authorization. Kwanzaa is righteous and revels in our recaptured sense of
the sacredness and beauty of our Black selves. We wish you the Blessings of the N’Guzo Saba.

Looking Black . . .

In 1985, OUR COMMON GROUND with Janice Graham began its journey to witness world political, cultural, civic, and economic events on two major spikes of the North Star: our voices and experience. The broadcast moved from terrestrial radio into independent internet broadcasting in 2009. We are proud that we used our network to connect listeners and the vast array of Black thought leaders, researchers, authors, scholars, and activists until our last broadcast in 2023. Thank you for your support and encouragement. We are especially grateful to, Duane Alford, the Executive Producer of our collaborative extension, TruthWorks Network, and host of, The ALFO Show, whose commitment to ‘truthtelling’ will always be remembered and will endure. ALFO made his transition but his spirit remains in our work. 

We also note and appreciate the awesome work of our Production Administrator, Michelle Odom. Her contributions as a team member in both production and research kept us at the top of our game.

Terminating our long-career in being at the center of providing insightful, informative, and empowering talk was a difficult one, especially in the timing. But it was time. A drop in listenership and the demands of competing with corporate media and podcasts mounted, finally overwhelming our efforts to be heard.

Yet, and still, we were honored to have served in the vital role of organizing, agitating, and educating.
